Personally, I’ll be waiting for every news around this new Smartphone, especially with the fact that it comes with the hype of the KitKat Android build.

Moving on, the LG-D820 is said to have an “MSM 8974″ processor which is in layman’s term is the Snapdragon 800. It was also reported that it will go with a “aosp_hammerhead” build name and runs on Google’s latest Android version (4.4).

Putting them in a virtual side to side comparison with the Nexus 4, the supposed Nexus 5 is a tad smaller (131.9mm as compared to the Nexus 4′s 133.9mm) and a bit thinner at 68.2mm. Screen size comes in at 126mm, or around 4.96 inches and will incorporate a 2300mAh non-removalable battery.

Previous statements reveal that the LG-D820 has just passed through FCC; leaked photos show the device’s back plate with an NFC antenna and Qi wireless charging details.  What’s more surprising is that the skeletal frame looks strikingly similar to the one we saw during the Google event.

The device is also said to support a number of radio bands, including pentaband HSPA+ 42mbps on 850, 900, 1700, 1900 and 2100MHz, 7-band LTE on Band 2, 4, 5, 17, 25, 26 and 41, EVDO revA (CDMA) on 800 and 1900MHz.

Google hints Nexus 5/android-news/google-hints-nexus-5/ /android-news/google-hints-nexus-5/#comments Thu, 05 Sep 2013 10:24:28 +0000 Jearr Ventura /?p=3027 google nexus logo Google hints Nexus 5

After announcing that the Android 4.4 build would be named KitKat in behalf of their recent partnership with Nestle, a seemingly new phone was spotted during the erection of the huge Android/KitKat statue and that it bears the LG Nexus logo.

The partnership between Google and Nestle for me is a good thing and it will, in all possibilities propel each other to new ranks in their respective fields. And with the search engine’s already evident dominance (and Android’s as well) we may be quite surprised as to what they would come out and lay on the table in the years to come.

KitKat or no wafer covered with chocolate, I am more intrigues with this “mystery phone” spotted during the event. What made this viral news more interesting is that the leaked video has been moved to private by Google and either company is opening their mouths as to the real score of the Smartphone. Is this the new Nexus 5? Or is this just a prototype trying to add a bit more spice to the partnership?

As you can see in the video grab, the Nexus logo is horizontal – much like what they did on the Nexus 7 and 10. The camera also is worth mentioning: a huge lens sits at the upper right hand corner of the device and is a sign of the modest LG G2.

As the rumor mill grinds this to be the Nexus 5, it also comes with a hint that it will have a 5-inch display and a 13 megapixel rear clicker. Other than that, that’s all we have.

Both Google and Nestle are keeping their lids tightly screwed as of the moment, but with the unveiling of the next Android and the fact that Google will never manufacture the Nexus 4 again once it runs out, I am pretty sure that the Nexus 5 will soon come knocking on our doors.

Google Galaxy Nexus – Volume Bug “Debounce” explained and fix is coming/android-news/google-galaxy-nexus-volume-bug-explained-fix-coming/ /android-news/google-galaxy-nexus-volume-bug-explained-fix-coming/#comments Fri, 25 Nov 2011 04:22:01 +0000 Pinoy Android /?p=2001 volume issue galaxy nexus Google Galaxy Nexus Volume Bug Debounce explained and fix is comingThe new Google Galaxy Nexus is out in the market in the UK and weeks after the release a  bug has been discovered called the Galaxy Nexus Volume Bug. The ‘Volume Bug – Debounce‘  results in a decrease or increase in volume with out user intervention. This is due to a interference in a 2G network specifically the 900Mhz band. This is a hardware problem and both Samsung and Google acknowledge the bug and will roll out a fix on this. The good news is that it can be fixed via a software patch rather than full recall of the device.

A British  Systems Engineer – Lee Johnston explained the real cause and fix for this Galaxy Nexus Volume Bug:

I’m a Systems Engineer and also a Developer. I deal with things like this every day. What we have here is indeed a hardware issue, in that the radio interference is coming in through the radio hardware. However things like this can be fix fairly easily in software. It’s called debounce.

When you monitor an electronic input like the buttons on a phone there is always noise and flutter even when you just press the button. If testing by Google has shown that they just need to turn up the debounce time (the time which an input must exceed for it to be determined to be a genuine press) then it will more than likely just work and no one will ever see it again.

Like I said I deal with this kind of thing every day, it’s not a big deal as long as your debounce time is not excessive. But noise happens down on the order of 1 to 40 ms, real inputs when you press a button last from 100 or 200ms if you tap the button, up to seconds if you hold it down.

This is nothing like Apple and the iPhone 4 antennae problems that could not be fixed in software. I’m sure everyone will see in due time, the problem will be fixed, and the dust will blow over.

And people will be saying “wow, I was wrong, Google rocks!”

The explanation of Lee Johnston was supported by Google engineer Dan Morrill who reposted it in his Google+ and said completely accurate” description of a “very common phenomenon”, with the increase in debounce time being the “classic fix”.

The issue of the Volume bug is explained clearly and Samsung and Google will roll out a fix for the Galaxy Nexus and hopefully will fix this issue in the next batch of Galaxy Nexus.

Galaxy Nexus vs. Galaxy S II vs. iPhone 4S – comparison chart/android-phone/galaxy-nexus-galaxy-ii-iphone-4s-comparison-chart/ /android-phone/galaxy-nexus-galaxy-ii-iphone-4s-comparison-chart/#comments Fri, 21 Oct 2011 16:08:43 +0000 Pinoy Android /?p=1839 The recently unveiled Google  GALAXY Nexus – the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered smartphone and recently launched Apple iPhone 4S with Siri, and of course there’s the king of Smartphone for 2011 – Samsung Galaxy S II with more than 10 millions sold are considered to be the best smartphone of this year.

A comparison chart courtesy of Buzzingup shows us the specification of each device. The three devices are powered by dual-core processor and the latest operating system. The camera for each devices are great, the shutter lag free Galaxy Nexus and HD display. For Galaxy S II it has 8 MP and running Android Gingerbread (I know there is Android 4.0 update for Galaxy SII ) with coming HD display variant. Yes! Apple iPhone 4S is a great phone I must admit, in some demo that I saw it is fast with its A5 processor. Another great add-on is Siri. Android has Siri counterpart too…but in other aspects clearly the Android smartphones are still the best.
