Samsung will slowly move away from Android in favor for TIZEN

Samsung took the top spot as the king of mobile phone manufacturer and mainly this is due to their adaption of Android operating system. It all started with the Samsung Galaxy S1 (I9000) and from then on they released numerous devices among are the Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note II. They were also the key partner of Google for the Nexus line from Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus plus they are also the Kryptonite of Apple Inc. According to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Samsung will move away from Android Operating System and will focus on their own operating system the TIZEN.

“We plan to release new, competitive Tizen devices within this year and will keep expanding the lineup depending on market conditions,” Suwon, South Korea-based Samsung

TIZEN

TIZEN

Tizen is another open-source mobile operating system and co-developed with Intel and the TIZEN alliance namely NTTDocomo from Japan, Vodafone and among others. Samsung is a company that makes mobile phone using their own hardware from memory chip to display, you name it. A company that is so independent in terms of hardware manufacturing they will try to ditch Android as their primary OS.

Google – Motorola

Google bought Motorola for 12.5-Billion last year and from then on Samsung pushed hard the development of the TIZEN operating system. Motorola is one of the largest mobile manufacturer in the U.S and with this I personally think that Samsung doesn’t want to be to reliant with Google’s operating system.

Samsung – TIZEN

Currently Samsung holds 35 percent market share that is 56.9 million smartphones in the third quarter of 2012, compared with 17 percent for Apple, researcher Strategy Analytics. Samsung is trying to be Apple, a mobile manufacturer capable of producing their respective devices using their own hardware and software capability wise they can.

Mobile Phone History

When Nokia was the king of mobile manufacturer they were using Symbian, then RIM’s Blackberry dominated the North America. Apple kicked them with a huge hit of iPhone and its iOS operating system. Entered Android, almost same age of iOS and considered to be the clone, copy cat or whatever you call Android (best OS for me), all those older operating system was outcasted by Android thanks to its openness (open-source) and with developers support through out the world apps become free and devices powered by Android become cheaper compared to its competitor.

With TIZEN as the new challenger, will Samsung going to survive without Android? Will Motorola become the main carrier of Android? But the biggest question is, will TIZEN be as good as Android and iOS? and willl the public accept it heartedly?

never heard of tizen, but who knows… if they can rally enough developers to make apps and games for that platform, they might have a chance. however, android is still a young platform, and a lot can still be improved on it. plus, it’s so easy to customize that’s it’s hard to just leave it for a relative nobody with no apparent market and developer support. let’s see how they market it.
